DBS Hong Kong Proudly Introduces the DBS Youth Social Enterprise Experience
The DBS Youth Social Enterprise Experience, a pioneer community programme co-organised with Baptist Oi Kwan Social Services (BOKSS), is the newest chapter in DBS Hong Kong's commitment to support children in Asia in the area of learning. The intensive two-phase programme gives hands-on business training to local secondary school students and offers them a chance to work with a local social enterprise.
Under this initiative, DBS Hong Kong provides five winning schools with the best business proposals the use of a Chinese New Year stall in Victoria Park and HKD 20,000 as operating capital. Over 40 DBS Hong Kong staff mentors work with and guide students from the five schools throughout the Experience. During Phase 1, mentors coach students through the business basics, culminating with real-life practice by running their own stall at the Chinese New Year flower market at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay. In Phase 2, students continue to work with mentors as they apply their newly learnt business skills - and Phase 1 profits - towards enhancing and renewing the current business strategy with a local social enterprise.

Rebuilding Ma Chuan Primary School post Sichuan Earthquake
In the wake of the May 2008 Sichuan earthquake, DBS Hong Kong staff rallied together to aid in the redevelopment of the communities badly affected in the disaster. Given DBS' focus on children and education, we poured our resources into partnering with Sowers Action, to rebuild Ma Chuan Primary School located in Gan Su, China. The "Rebuild a School, Rebuild Lives" campaign consisted of a diverse range of staff-led fundraisers supported by matching funds from DBS. In the end, a total of HKD 844,000 was raised and channelled towards the rebuilding of the school and scholarships for its needy students.
